Traditional Dutch windmills line the horizon in a scenic rural landscape.

Michael K. Heit is a sports photographer covering collegiate and high school athletics throughout New York and the Northeast. His work focuses on capturing the intensity, emotion, and defining moments that tell the full story of competition — from NCAA matchups to championship high school games and community sporting events.

He regularly photographs college athletics across the region, documenting game action, sideline moments, and the energy that connects athletes, teams, and fans. His images aim to reflect the heart of the game — intensity in motion, teamwork under pressure, and the emotional moments that define competition.

His experience spans a wide range of sports and competitive levels, and he approaches every assignment with professionalism, respect, and genuine enthusiasm for the athletes he covers. Each photograph represents more than a single moment — it reflects preparation, effort, pride, and perseverance.

Before pursuing photography full time, Michael served with the New York City Police Department and the U.S. Army Reserves. Those years shaped his appreciation for discipline, teamwork, accountability, and integrity — values that continue to guide his work on and off the field.

Community involvement remains an important part of his life. Michael is a proud member of the Walden Rotary Club, volunteers with the Orange County Senior Dining Program (Meals on Wheels), and regularly donates his time and photography to local causes and events, including the Special Olympics and organizations such as Heroes, Cowboys & Companions, which support veterans, first responders, and their families.

When not covering games or community events, he enjoys photographing wildlife — a personal pursuit that encourages patience, perspective, and an appreciation for quiet moments.

At its core, his photography is about connection — celebrating effort, emotion, and purpose both on and off the field.
